Who are we?
The Crossing Borders Academy is an initiative by Jan van der Molen and Hannah Ietswaart, the authors of the Crossing Borders handbook. The site was built in light of a capacity building program aimed at cross-border cooperation and has been operational since the beginning of 2012.
At this point in time the site is managed by a core team that, where appropriate, may rely on an international group of reflective practitioners, practice-oriented scientists and possible future practitioners (students).

The Crossing Borders Theory
The handbook published in 2012 has been based on the Crossing Borders theory which was developed in 2007 - 2010 and published in 2011.
This is a practice-oriented theoretical framework specifically developed for cross-border regional cooperation at policy-oriented level. Initiating, managing and creating this kind of cooperation is a complex and often unpredictable process that requires a well-thought out approach.
The Crossing Borders theory is a theory of action that offers useful support for pioneers in every phase of this process.
Download here the complete theory, published in 2011, which has been used as the foundation of the Crossing Borders handbook.
